Obsidian Plugin: Sync Your Vault
Keep writing in Obsidian — Pensio adds the intelligence layer. No need to switch tools.
Benefits
Real-Time Sync
Save in Obsidian, and it syncs to Pensio. The plugin detects changes and uploads automatically.
Bulk Upload
Sync your entire vault at once — entries uploaded in chunks of 50 for reliability.
No Lock-In
Your markdown files stay in your vault, unchanged. Pensio reads them — it never modifies them.
Secure Auth
JWT tokens stored in Obsidian SecretStorage. Automatic refresh — no password prompts.
Obsidian
Native plugin — keep writing in Obsidian, we add the intelligence
Keep writing in your vault. The plugin sends each note up; Pensio reads it, never changes it, and the file in your vault stays the original.
An example
2026-03-14 Sunday call.md, with date: 2026-03-14 in its front matter and @Mom in the text.
- Date from front matter
- Editable here no
The plugin sends it up when you save. Pensio dates it from the front matter first, the filename second, the file’s own time last; connects Mom; and files it as an Obsidian entry you can read here but only change there.
What you can do
- Connect from Obsidian
- Press Connect to Pensio in the plugin. Your browser opens Pensio, where you approve the vault or get a setup code to enter under Setup code: eight characters, good for five minutes, usable once. The plugin never sees your password.
- Sync now, one file, or everything
- Three commands in Obsidian. A whole vault goes up in chunks of fifty.
- Keep writing in Obsidian
- With auto-sync on, a note goes up when you save it.
- Bring your people
- A note in your People folder with relationship: family in its front matter becomes a person here. Give it aliases: Em, and [[Em]] in a note’s text finds her.
- Rename or move a note
- Its entry moves with it: the same entry, with its reading and everything linked to it.
- Delete a note, and its entry goes
- Deleting a note in Obsidian deletes the entry the plugin made from it, and nothing else.
- Catch up on deletes, if you turn it on
- Mirror delete is off by default. On, it also removes entries whose notes are no longer in your synced folders, however they left.
- Stop it
- Press Disconnect in the plugin, or go to Settings, then Connected apps, then Stop it. Connect again to resume.
How It Works
Install the plugin
In Obsidian, open Settings → Community plugins, search for "Pensio Journaling Sync", and click Install, then Enable.
Connect your account
In the plugin's settings, press Connect to Pensio. Your browser opens Pensio, where you approve the vault or get a one-time setup code to enter in the plugin. No copying long tokens — each device gets its own secure connection, stored in Obsidian SecretStorage.
Sync your vault
Click "Sync Now" to upload your existing entries in chunks of 50. From then on, every save syncs automatically in the background.
Access intelligence on the web
Your entries appear in Pensio at once and are searchable right away. Pensio reads them over the days that follow, newest first, and fills in the insights for past weeks and months a few each day — all while your markdown files stay untouched in Obsidian.
