What Pensio is

Pensio is an AI-powered journaling app. You write journal entries, and we help you discover patterns, track emotions, and reflect on your life. We provide the software; you own your words.

Your account

• You need an account to use Pensio. Use a real email — that's how we send password resets.
• Keep your password secure. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication.
• One person, one account. Don't share accounts.
• You must be at least 16 years old to use Pensio. If we learn that a user under 16 has created an account, we will delete it and all associated data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, please contact us at [email protected].
• You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

Your content

• You own everything you write. Your journal entries, relationships, and all content you create belong to you.
• We need a limited license to operate the service — storing your entries, processing them with AI, displaying them back to you. That's it. We don't use your content for marketing, training, or anything else.
• You can export all your data at any time (Settings → Export). You can delete your account at any time.

What you can't do

Pensio is a personal journaling tool. Don't use it to:

• Store illegal content.
• Abuse the API or attempt to access other users' data.
• Use automated tools to scrape or flood the service.
• Reverse-engineer the AI features or attempt to extract model weights.

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules.

AI features

• Emotion extraction and Explore chat are AI-generated. They can be inaccurate, miss context, or misinterpret your writing. Always use your own judgment.
• Pensio is not a therapist, counselor, or medical professional. AI-generated insights are for self-reflection only — not diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice. Do not make medical, financial, legal, or life decisions based solely on Pensio's AI outputs.
• AI insights reflect patterns in your writing, not objective truth. The AI may detect patterns that don't exist, miss important context, or generate misleading interpretations. You are responsible for how you interpret and act on AI-generated content.

• Pensio's AI features run only if you turn them on, and you can turn them off in Settings at any time. They use Anthropic's Claude, run for us by Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, and ElevenLabs (Scribe) and NVIDIA (Parakeet, run by Together AI) for voice, all accessed through OpenRouter. Your data is processed in-memory and not stored or used for training. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
• A voice entry may also be heard by OpenAI's Whisper, run by DeepInfra, Groq or Together AI through the same zero-retention route, only to check that the words written down are words it heard too. Its own words are never kept.

Service availability

• We aim for high availability but do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage. Maintenance windows may occur.
• We do daily backups, but you should also export your data regularly as a personal backup.
• If we ever shut down Pensio (we don't plan to), we'll give at least 90 days' notice and provide data export.
• We are not responsible for service interruptions caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: infrastructure provider outages, natural disasters, cyberattacks, or government actions.

Account suspension and termination

• We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with notice where possible.
• We may also terminate accounts for any reason with 30 days' written notice. In that case, you will have the opportunity to export your data before termination.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings. The account is deleted after 72 hours, not when you ask, and until then you can cancel the deletion. After that, the deletion is permanent and irreversible. Deleting the account also cancels a subscription bought on the website.

Pricing and payments

• Pensio has a free plan and a paid plan, Pro, sold as a monthly or a yearly subscription. The current price is on the pricing page, and you see it before you pay.
• If you subscribe on the website, Stripe processes the payment. If you subscribe in the app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, or in the Android app, Apple or Google processes it, under their own terms.
• A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time: on the website under Settings, or with Apple or Google for a subscription bought in the app. It stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and that period is not refunded, except where the law requires it.
• Deleting your account cancels a subscription bought on the website at the moment the account is deleted, and anything charged between your request and the deletion is refunded in full. Pensio cannot cancel a subscription bought in the app: Apple or Google bill you for it, so cancel it with them.
• If a subscription ends, the account moves to the free plan and your entries stay in it.

Disclaimer of warranties

Pensio is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or appropriate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or profits.
• We are not liable for any decisions you make based on AI-generated insights, emotional harm arising from AI-generated content, or any consequences of acting on Pensio's analysis of your journal entries.
• Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from these terms or your use of Pensio is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €50, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Pensio harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms.

Changes to these terms

If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Pensio will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lisbon, Portugal. If you are an EU consumer, you retain any mandatory consumer protection rights granted by the laws of your country of residence.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
