Explore: AI That Knows Your Journal

A chat interface that queries your full journal history — not keyword search, but structured intelligence.

Benefits

21 Intelligence Functions

Search by emotion, person, theme, time period, text, and more. Compare periods, find patterns, traverse connections.

5 Advisor Personalities

Reflective Guide connects dots. Life Coach holds you accountable. Analyst shows the numbers. Mindfulness Guide slows down. Journaling Coach deepens your writing.

Persistent Memory

Remembers facts and preferences you share across sessions. It learns your context over time.

Entry & People References

Type @ to reference a person or # to reference a specific entry. The AI gets full context instantly.

Questions From Every Entry

At the end of each entry, Pensio offers two questions about the people, places and moments in it, written for that entry when it is read. Press one and it waits in Explore, for you to change or send.

Explore

Chat with an AI that knows your entire journal

It answers from your own words. Not a chat with your journal pasted in: it searches what you wrote, quotes it back, and shows you which entries each answer came from.

An example

You ask, six months in
“How has it been with David this year?”
  • It read 15 entries
  • Advisor Reflective Guide

It searches the entries that mention him, fifteen across the last six months from the first-day call to the therapy session, and answers from what you wrote, with each entry listed under Sources so you can open it.

What you can do

Ask anything about your writing
In your own words. It searches your entries, your people and your reflections, and answers from what you wrote. When there is nothing there, it says so.
Start from an entry
At the end of any entry: two questions Pensio wrote about the people, places and moments in it, or take the entry into Explore yourself. Pressing one puts it in the box, and nothing is sent until you do.
Point it at a person or an entry
Type @ for a person, # for an entry. It reads them first.
Choose who answers
5 advisors, the Reflective Guide by default. 5 of them on Free.
Open where an answer came from
Every answer lists its sources. Each one is your entry, a tap away.
Keep, find or delete a conversation
Deleting one removes every word of it and everything it taught Memory. It doesn't change how many conversations you have left this month.
Correct what it learned
It writes to Memory while you talk. Memory is where you correct, set aside or forget any of it.

How It Works

1

Write a journal entry

Use the web editor or sync from Obsidian. Write about your day, a decision, a relationship — anything on your mind.

2

Ask a question

Open the Explore chat and ask something like "Why do I keep procrastinating?" or "How have I been feeling about work this month?"

3

Get grounded answers

The AI searches your journal using 21 structured query functions — finding relevant entries, emotions, patterns, and people mentions. Every answer is grounded in your own words.

4

Go deeper

Reference a specific entry with # or a person with @. Switch between advisor personalities for different perspectives. The AI remembers your conversation context across sessions.

Use Cases

The Explore AI advisor is designed for deep self-reflection — here are common ways journalers use it.

Anxiety journaling

Ask your AI advisor to find patterns in anxious entries. See which triggers recur, what time of day anxiety peaks, and what coping strategies actually worked in the past.

Relationship reflection

Ask "How do I feel about Sarah?" and get an answer drawn from months of journal entries mentioning that person — including emotional trends and key moments.

Personal growth tracking

Ask the AI to compare how you wrote about confidence six months ago vs. today. See your growth reflected back in your own language.

Frequently Asked Questions

A month has a number of conversations, and a conversation a number of questions
Free has fewer than Pro. Usage says how many are left, and a conversation says when it is spent. Nothing you wrote is lost when one ends.
What it reads is sent to the model that answers
Through OpenRouter, with zero-retention routing, and the privacy page says which model. Run Pensio yourself with a local model and it never leaves your machine.
It looks everywhere, every time
Starting from an entry gives it a place to begin, not a fence. Asked whether you have written about something before, it can search the whole journal, so the answer is not a false no.
Drafts stay out of every answer
Unfinished writing is not searched, quoted or counted.
It can be wrong, and it shows its work
The sources under an answer are there so you can check it against what you actually wrote.
It is not a crisis service
If you write about wanting to die or to hurt yourself, it will not analyse it or give you steps. It says so plainly and points you to a free, confidential crisis line, because a person can help with this in a way it cannot.
