Handwriting to Text for Your Journal, Page by PageIn beta

Keep the notebook. Photograph a page, or a stack, and the words come back in the language you wrote them, as a draft you read before it becomes anything.

In beta: open to a small group of accounts first.

Benefits

Your handwriting, read

A page or a stack from one sitting, from the phone camera or the library. Each page becomes its own entry.

Nothing lands unread

The reading is a draft. Parts it could not read are marked; you fix what is wrong and only then add it.

Dated by you

A Tuesday page goes into Tuesday, so the week’s reflection finds it. Pensio never guesses the date off the page.

The page stays

The photograph is kept beside the entry, indefinitely. The words are a reading of it; the page is the original.

Handwriting

Photograph a page of your paper journal and get the words back as an entry you can search

Photograph the pages of a paper journal and Pensio reads the handwriting into text you can review, correct and add as ordinary entries — each one dated to the day the page is about, with the photograph kept beside it.

An example

A Tuesday page from a paper notebook
“Couldn’t sleep. Kept replaying the call with Mom, the bit where she went quiet.”
  • Date Tuesday, set by you
  • Photograph kept, indefinitely

You photograph the page. The words come back in the language you wrote them, with the parts it could not read marked. You fix one word, set the date to Tuesday, and only then does it become an entry, filed in Tuesday’s week, with the photograph kept beside it.

What you can do

Photograph a page, or a stack
From the phone camera or the library, on the web and in the apps. A stack from one sitting fans out into one entry per page.
Check and correct before it becomes anything
The reading is a draft until you say otherwise: you check it against the photograph, fix what is wrong, confirm the day each page belongs to, and only then add it to your journal. Where the model could not read a word it leaves a visible mark rather than a guess — and a page with no marks can still be wrong, so read it through.
Date each page
One date for the batch, then a date per page. A Tuesday page lands in Tuesday’s week, which is where its reflection will look for it.
Keep the photograph
It stays beside the entry it became, for as long as the entry does. The words are a reading of it; the page is the original.
Tell us what it got wrong
A name swapped, a word invented, a page it would not read: send it to [email protected] with the page, and it improves the reading for everyone.

How It Works

1

Photograph the pages

One page or a batch from one sitting, JPEG, PNG or WebP. A short notice tells you what is sent before you take the picture.

2

It is read in your language

The photo goes through Pensio’s AI gateway to a model that reads handwriting, under zero retention. Unreadable parts come back marked.

3

Check, correct, date

Read each page against the photograph, fix a word, set its date. Nothing is added to your journal until you say so.

4

It becomes an entry

Each page is an ordinary entry with the photograph beside it. It never connects a name it read to one of your people on its own.

Use Cases

30 pages a month, on Pro. A page it could not read is not charged.

Years of paper notebooks

Bring the back catalogue in a stack at a time, dated to the weeks they belong to, without a milestone email for every page.

Writing by hand, keeping it searchable

Keep the pen. Photograph the page at night and it is in Explore’s reach by morning.

The one page that mattered

A single page from a notebook you no longer keep, read and dated, next to everything you wrote since.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is sent
The photo is sent to a service that reads handwriting. Anything else in the frame goes with it.
Where it goes
The photograph travels through our AI gateway to the model that reads it, in memory and under a zero-retention agreement — the reading service does not keep it. The photograph itself is stored with your account, and stays attached to the entry it becomes.
It never connects a name on its own
Pensio never connects a name it read on paper to one of your people by itself. If a name matches someone in your journal, the review screen offers the connection and only your press creates it.
30 pages a month, on Pro
Only a page that was read counts, and a blank or unreadable page is not charged. Pages beyond your month are never thrown away: they stay in their sitting with their photographs, and you press Read again when your month starts over.
What the page had that the editor cannot hold
Underlining, highlighter, colour, arrows, margins and drawings have no place in an entry, so they stay on the photograph and out of the text.
It can be wrong without knowing it
Measured: on pages a person had marked hard to read, it marked something on every one. It also changes words it believes it read — on forty test pages, whole phrases on ten of them, nine of which carried other marks. A page with no marks is not a page it read correctly. Read it through against the photograph.
The marks are not a score
A mark means it knew it could not read something. The mistakes that change the meaning — a name swapped for another name, a negation that went missing — carry no mark at all.
Beta, and handwriting is hard
Open to a small group first, on their own handwriting. It cannot be trusted unread yet, which is why nothing is added until you have read it.
